ABET Accreditation

Why ABET Accreditation matters to institutions?

The ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc) is a highly reputed not-for-profit, non-governmental accrediting agency in applied science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. The ABET accreditation has been received by over 600 institutions in the US alone and by institutions in more than 30 countries making it a reputed program.

ABET Accreditation Process

The ABET accreditation program is outcome based and focuses on continuous improvement. The ABET comprises of four commissions who will carry out the accreditations for specific program areas and degree levels. They are as specified below:

  • Applied Science Accreditation program (ASAC)
  • Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC)
  • Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC)
  • Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC)

The institute which applies for the accreditation is assigned to one of the above four commissions and will then conduct an internal evaluation of its program and prepare a self-study report. The self-study includes documents how well the program is meeting the established accreditation criteria in multiple areas, such as their students, curriculum, faculty, administration, facilities, and institutional support.

There are about 120 reports which need to be generated as part of this self-study report which can be easily obtained by the faculty or the administrator of the institute with the click of a few buttons of the Creatrix Campus ABET Accreditation Management Software. This module is specially designed to cater to the institutions which are going in for the ABET accreditation and hence includes all the reports which are mandated by ABET.

ABET Accreditation Reports for Strategic Decision Making

The whole accreditation process lasts close to 18 months during which multiple reports and documents have to be presented to the onsite team. A sample of some of the reports which can be generated with the Creatrix Campus are as specified below:

  • Faculty performance reports
  • Student PO attainment reports
  • Student activity reports
  • Faculty research activities reports
  • CO – PO mapping reports
  • Curriculum structure

ABET Accreditation Management System is Committed to Reduce Faculty Workload Substantially

The formulae to derive the different fields in any of the 120 reports can be modified easily on the go in the app, which is cloud-based and hence can be accessed from anywhere by the faculty members. This app has the advantage that it doesn’t need any special efforts for data entry. It saves a ton of valuable faculty time where they do not need to do data munging work, but can focus on their mentoring activities.
